The UC Davis Music Department is hosting two South Korean musicians, So Ra Kim and Seung-hun Hyun, for an artist residency from Feb. 17-20. The residency culminates in a performance at Mondavi Center (Vanderhoef Studio Theater) on Feb. 20. So Ra Kim is a talented drummer and dancer gaining visibility in the United States (www.sorakim.org). Her husband, Seung-hun Hyun, has previously visited Davis when Kim Duk Soo's SamulNori Hanullim troupe came to do a lecture/masterclass for my students last March. This will be an exciting performance of Korean percussion and dance, and a nice way to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
